Navigation | Why The Name PEACE |
|
||
'Peace' is a powerful name, and in many cultures is a stronger, more appealing value than even love. Peace as an anointing, a blessing, a promise, and a state of security in relationship with God, and of well-being and eternal protection in Christ, is central to the faith and gospel of our Lord Jesus. In the Scriptures, God is called the 'God of Peace,' Jesus is the 'Prince of Peace,' the Gospel is called the 'Gospel of Peace,' and the eternal covenant that God has made with us in the blood of His Son is called the 'Covenant of Peace' (Heb 13:20, Isaiah 9:6, Eph 6:15, Isaiah 54:10). Peace has a central place in the ministry of Christ and in the promises of God. We are promised joy in the heart "for those who promote peace" (Proverbs 12:20), the prophet foretold "the punishment that brought us peace was upon him" (Isaiah 53:5), and Jesus instructed his apostles: "When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' " (Luke 10:5). We are amongst those who proclaim peace with God, which comes from hearing, believing, and obeying, the Word of God in Christ Jesus. (Romans 5:1) | ||||
